I happened upon Faerie Blossom/Winter Blossom on instagram with the best Harley Quinn Classic Cosplay I have ever seen. Being the Harley Quinn fangirl I am, I judge on Harley cosplay pretty hard. Instantly, I wanted t her.

Aside from her amazing Harley Quinn Cosplay (she is working on a Black and White version of HQ) she does a variety of other characters. Her pictures in this article show her versatility, dedication, love of creating and being as authentic to the character as possible.

With that said, I am beyond honored to have had the opportunity to interview our first international cosplayer from Germany! Let’s get to know the amazing Faerie Blossom:

What was the first convention you attended? What was the most memorable part of that convention?

The first convention I ever attended was the so called ‘JapanTag’ in Germany about four years ago. I was totally into wearing gothic lolita back then so I was dressed up like a goth like doll that day and it was incredibly hot outside.

My most memorable part of that con was just being there. Seeing all these people dressed up in costumes and different extravagant fashion styles just blew my mind.

I had never seen so many people that had the same interest as me and it just made me so happy! I still remember how stunned I was.

What was the first cosplay you did and why did you choose it?

My first cosplay ever was Riku Furude from Higurashi no naku koro nii. My girlfriend and me bingewatched this series when I still was more into anime and I just adored how cute and yet creepy serious this character was.

Plus it was a rather simple costume and easy to shop together. (I was about 16 I didn’t have any skill at all xD). Also Rika has long blue hair and I’ve always wanted to have blue hair myself, so it was a double win.

You are an obvious lover of Harley Quinn, why did you choose to do her cosplay in various forms?Miclast
Oh Harley Quinn is one of my favorite comic characters ever and for me it is especially the fact how many
different versions of her exist, that makes her even more interesting in matters of cosplay. I am usually ‘known’ for cosplaying different versions of characters.

When I choose a character to cosplay it’s not just the look of them that I adore, it is their story, their character, their whole being. For me it is just not enough to cosplay one version, I want to capture the character in as many varities as possible. So why not cosplay multiple of Harley’s iconic versions?

She has so many pretty outfits, I just can’t stop myself.

What is the most challenging or expensive cosplay/prop/project that you’ve worked on?

Robifee (1)Mhhh I think that would be Maleficent.

If I count the times how often I threw that costume ‘in the trash’ and started all over again…

It is not even funny anymore, I was so upset with that costume. Nothing would work out the way I wanted but I never could let it be.

In the end after countless remakes I love it and I am happy I didn’t stop! But I already know making 3d realistic wings for her will be an even harder challenge.

What are some of the best things you’ve learned about yourself since you started cosplaying?

I am even more impatient than I thought, that’s what I learned.
Oh and I also swear a lot during sewing, crafting or getting dressed up in my costumes.

Summed up: I realized I am an evil little imp thanks to cosplay.
But I also learned how many people are as crazy as me and that makes me happy!!!

What is your advice to those just getting into cosplay?
AK Fotografie (1) (1)Know your character, really. If you want to cosplay take a character you like and that you know.

Ask people how they made their stuff, if they have any advice or helpful tips and google for tutorials. But the most important thing is have fun. Do it for you, do it for the character you want to portray.

What is it about you that nobody knows?

I honestly hate the Joker. Most people assume (cosplaying harley quinn and all) I love the Joker, but I really don’t. He is an abusive asshole…
