Welcome to the Raw Review for August 7, 2017. For both this and Smackdown, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show.

Talking Points

Miz Tv…Interrupted

Brock Lesner and Paul Heyman know how to milk an angle. With much of the talk being about Lesner going to the UFC, it would be easy to just have him have a I-don’t-care attitude regarding the WWE Universal Title. On Raw, Lesner looked like a beast as he proceeded to destroy The Miz and the Mizterouge. The ring actually shook as he delivered his beat down. He wants to keep being the champion. If Lesner is getting ready to leave the WWE, this is the version that I hope shows up at Summerslam for his last match.

Losing Bayley

I thought that Bayley looked hurt after last week’s match with Nia Jax. This turned out to be a separated shoulder that took her out of the match at Summerslam. Sasha Banks and Jax will meet next week to see who will compete against Alexa Bliss. Something happened when Bayley was out speaking. The crowd started to boo her. You can like or dislike anyone you want in the WWE, but to boo someone who is legitimately hurt is disgusting. Cheer or Boo the character, not the real person.

Getting Closer

Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose have probably the most interesting story going for the Red brand. After Rollins got a post match beat down from Cesaro and Sheamus, Ambrose was about to get the same when Rollins stepped in to help. The match between Cesaro and Ambrose was a classic, but the post match was equally as good. Ambrose extended a fist to Rollins and the place erupted. Rollins, however, turned and rolled out of the ring. When they do come together, and they will, except the noise to be deafening.

Match of the Night

Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman (Last Man Standing) ( Strowman wins)

Braun Stowman and Roman Reigns might have sealed the win for Best Feud of the year. There is something different about their matches, brutality and athleticism taken to another level. If you want a highlight, you would have a dozen to choose from.  Reigns running down the entire ramp for a spear, Strowman throwing an office chair right into Reigns face, Reigns dropping Strowman through a table, and Strowman throwing Reigns into the LED sign are some examples. Samoa Joe even helped Strowman win. The title match at Summerslam can not get here fast enough.

Conclusion

The bad vibes from Bayley aside, tonight was a great show. Full of emotion, three great matches, and a pretty good impression of Heyman from the Miz. Next week is all about the women as we find out who will be the number one contender for the Women’s championship. I hope that no one else gets hurt (Dawson of the Revival is out as well) and we can get ready for Summerslam.
