Welcome to the Raw Review for November 20, 2017. For both this and Smackdown, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show.
Talking Points
The Backdown
A very happy Stephanie McMahon opened the show gloating about beat Smackdown the night before. She introduced her husband as the man who lead the red brand to victory. Triple H had just gotten in the ring when Kurt Angle stormed out and got right in the Game’s face. Promising retribution if Triple H ever pulled a double cross, Angle was interrupted by his son, Jason Jordan. Jordan also wanted a piece of Triple H. Braun Stowman joined the party and stared The Game right out of the ring. A match was made by an angry Stephanie with Jordan vs. Strowman. There are a lot of stories that could come from this. Angle or Jordan could go after Triple H. Or the Monster Among Men could decide to play the Game. Before the night was over, we would get one answer. Also, props if you noticed that Triple H didn’t say one word during the whole promo.
Scream for Her
Mickie James, Sasha Banks, Alicia Fox and Bayley fought to decide who will challenge Alexa Bliss for her title. The match had no winner, due to a very big interruption. Paige returned to a very loud ovation. After putting the ladies on notice, Paige reveled that she was not alone. Enter Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville, who proceeded to help the Anti-Diva destroy almost the entire division. Bliss was not spared, as the three dropped her backstage. The Smackdown Women’s division was always ahead of the Raw, but that all changed. Three very intriguing wrestlers have shaken up the entire landscape.
Night of the Demon
Jordan tried to fight Braun Strowman. After being thrown around, Jordan attempted to life the monster, but his injured leg seemed to give out on him. Strowman would have no time to gloat, as Kane attacked him from behind. Picking up a steel chair, the Devil’s Favorite Demon proceeded to twist the steel over Strowman. He saved the worst for last, as he placed the top of the chair on Strowman’s throat and drove it into the steel stairs. Strowman sounded like he was legitimately having trouble breathing, but refused any medical help. The Monster is not rid of the demon yet. I also wonder how “injured” Jordan really was.
Match of the Night
Intercontinental Champion The Miz vs. Roman Reigns (Intercontinental Championship Match) (Reigns wins by pin fall to become the new Intercontinental Champion)
Houston was solely in Roman Reigns’ corner tonight. Getting a lot of cheers by himself, Reigns and Miz had a classic match. No big spots, but just good old fashioned wrestling. It looked as if Reigns had the match one, but the Bar decided to interfere. This brought out the rest of the Shield for back up. Miz focused to much on them and walked right into a spear. This was the only championship that Reigns has never held and the crowd cheered him when it was over. Reigns may have finally won most of the crowd over, why did it take so long?
Conclusion
No a lot of celebrating, but a whole lot of action. Samoa Joe was able to beat Finn Balor one on one. Elias still might have Matt Hardy to deal with. Enzo Amore gave one of the funnest promos he had delivered in a while. Askua is still beating everyone down. A long wait for the Royal Rumble, so new story lines can take a little longer to develop.
