Koji Igarashi takes his games very seriously. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is no exception. He has campaigned harder than ever to let players know that this game, developed by ArtPlay, and published by 505 Games, is better than ever in graphics and content. Koji even announced 13 DLCs to go along with this release.

Miriam is an orphan that was cursed by an alchemist. This curse is slowly crystallizing her body and she wants to take her life back. Her only choice is to fight demons throughout the castle that her friend Gebel. Gebel, cursed the same, is now mostly crystal and hardly in shape to understand Miriam’s desire to free herself.

This RPG side-scrolling metroidvania action game is filled with updated graphics that pop. Not only does everything look better but there is a lot of action. Miriam now has custom outfits, making her a really cool female protagonist too. As if that alone wasn’t enough, there are now two new modes as well. The Speed Run Mode and Boss Rush Mode are sure to get your adrenaline up. Both of these modes and an outift for Miriam are part of the 13 DLCs that can be added on.

If you’re a fan of the 2D Castlevania games then Ritual of the Night will be a good fit for you. There are many hidden Easter eggs and the varying weapons make for a more customizable fit for your style. The plot pulls players in to where they don’t want to put the game down. For completionists and crafters, Ritual of the Night also provides that too. There’s almost nothing this game can’t do, so it deserves a chance to be in your library.
