Today was Batman Day with a little take over from the Maid of Mischief herself. So with that, I went around the city of Chicago to find a shop I have not been to before to see what they are working on.
I found myself at a shop called Alleycat Comics which is located at 5304 N Clark, Chicago. It is literally tucked in behind a shop….you have to take a walk down between the buildings to get there. When you do, you are greeted with a lovely garage front. Hence making the name Alleycat Comics a whole lot more perfect.
I went in knowing they were participating in the Harley Quinn Takeover day. Being that I am a huge Harley Quinn fan, I was not going to miss out on the day. What I found by doing so was an amazing little hidden gem.
This shop is super clean. Super organized and had enough cool comic (and Zelda) items to make a girl wanna move in and never leave. The action figure selection is amazing. So many choices to fit a fandom.
The comics are stored in meticulous order. Some in the cabinet that I am fairly sure they stole from Wayne Manner comic library itself to place pre bagged and boarded comics in.
I may want to have this copied and put into my own home one fine day because it is just that awesome.
They were really friendly. The guy who was working in the aisles was super cool. I wish I had gotten their names but I was like a kid in a proverbial candy store and was just dazzled by all the shiney things.
In the end, I did get my Harley Quinn Takeover Day comics.
I did get to see a few new statues of Ms. Quinzel that I must add to my collection. I also found a super rad shop that I cannot wait to go back to and spend a bit more time in.
So, thank you DC Comics for having a Batman Day, that Harley was able to take over for her 25th.
Had you not, I may not have found this awesome shop tucked in the back of a street in Chicago.
I highly recommend you check them out if you live in the area and support local.
