Welcome to the Smackdown Review for November 28, 2017. For both this and Raw, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show.
Talking Points
The Maharaja Snaps
AJ Styles had to know going into his two on one handicap match against the Sing Brothers that Jinder Mahl would get involved. The attack happened before the bell even rang, but this seemed to just anger Styles and he proceeded to beat the Brothers from pillar to post. After a Styles Clash from the top rope, styles was able to pick up the victory and escape the ring. Mahl flew into a rage, culminating with beating up his own associates. This bodes well for Mahl, he might take a more aggressive stance in his quest to regain the WWE Championship.
Sawed
The Saw parody that was set up weeks ago finally happened on Fashion Files. Waking up chained in a bathroom, Fandango, Tyler Breeze and the Ascension were told to find a key by a very familiar puppet on a TV screen. Fandango and Breeze escaped ,but The Ascension did not. Much like the Twin Peaks parody, this was so spot on. I loved the fact that Breeze could not remember Victor’s name. The only question is who is behind it and did the Ascension actually inhale the poisonous gas?
The Riott Squad
While Paige and her two followers might be after respect, Ruby Riot, Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan are all about destruction. Their match against Charlotte, Naomi and Natalya eventually became a three on one handicap match. Morgan and Logan looked especially vicious as they slammed Naomi into the steel stairs. Charlotte did the best she could, but thew numbers game eventually overwhelmed her. I thought that Smackdown had the lesser of the NXT call ups, but this match changed my mind. These three women can go very far on the blue brand.
Match of the Night
Kevin Owens vs. Randy Orton ( No DQ match) (Owens wins by pinfall)
The punishment for Kevin Owens escalated as his match against Randy Orton became a no disqualification match with Sami Zayn barred from ringside. Orton and Owens, who showed flashes of brilliance in their previous encounters, had a long and hard hitting match. At one point, Orton hit Owens with a kendo stick so hard it snapped on impact. While fighting on the ramp, Zayn appeared with a chair and laid out the Viper. This gave Owens the space to seal his victory. What will be the reaction from Shane Mcmahon and Danial Bryan after Zayn disregarded their rules?
Conclusion
The New Day won their match to get a title opportunity against the Usos. The Hype Bros are no more as Mojo Rawley attacked Zack Ryder. Booby Roode and Baron Corbin are headed for a showdown. Quite a few developments on the show.
