A game that would be ideal for those who love to read or prefer story-strong games. This series has gained popularity and is regularly advertised on Facebook to other gamers.
Initially, I started playing The Crown & The Flame, which is a fantasy story about Queen Kenna of Stormholt trying to reclaim the throne that was taken from her. While I enjoyed the first chapter, I wanted to try one of the other choice games.
This is where The Freshman came in. It is a coming-of-age story of a character that players can build and name themselves. I chose a female, which may differ from the male story-line. The first two chapters involve getting to know the roommates and touring the campus.
There are no options for moving your character around or having them interact with anything around them. The objective is to progress through the story to see what happens.
Players would likely not want to wait between chapters, but there is a restriction on how many chapters are played at a time. There is an option to purchase more if players want to spend the money, or they can wait an hour and half for “keys” (monetary exchange for chapters). Casual gamers may like the game, but others who like to spend hours playing may not like the restrictions.
My score: 3/5
