Fans of the Gameboy version will definitely love the mobile Heroes game. I have never played the previous versions before, but the mobile version has an introduction that will give insight on the story and how the game is played. The player can give their character a name of their own choosing. I myself chose the name Vhenan as it sounded like the name of a character in Fire Emblem. Other players can name their character after their own name if they wish.
The game’s fighting style is like chess. A character can only make a certain number of moves before being able to strike their enemy. There are options to collect heroes and editing a team with new characters to build up levels. There are different specialties each hero has, and it is good to use different types in battle. There are cut scenes in between battles where colleagues will discuss the mission at hand and any future ones that need to be done where the player can be included.
There is a tab for summoning heroes with the cost of orbs, which can be cheaper if used in only one summoning circle, otherwise the cost can be much higher. As the player progresses through the story, orbs can be earned with the completion of each chapter. As with other free-to-play mobile games, there is an option to pay for Orbs for extra purchases.
There are different map options as well for battle:
Blessed Gardens
Special Maps
Story Maps
Arena Duels
Training Tower
Events
When first starting on the game, the player will be placed in the prologue Story Maps before having a choice to try the other maps. Once the prologue is finished and the first chapter of the Story Maps is available along with Special Maps, Arena Duels, and Events. Training Tower and Blessed Gardens isn’t available to my character yet.
When first downloading the game, there will be multiple updates that will take time and should be done over a Wi-Fi connection which is the only downside. Otherwise, there isn’t any lag in battle and the music is epic enough to get the player in a fighting mood.
My score: 4/5
