Welcome to the Smackdown Review for April 24, 2018. For both this and Raw, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show
Talking Points
A Big Miz TV
The Miz finally joined Smackdown, and everyone was waiting for his first guest on Miz TV, Daniel Bryan. Miz talked about how he harbored no anger toward Bryan after the birth of his daughter. He waited for Bryan to come out. Instead, we got a very dapper dressed Big Cass. Cass took the guest spot and talked about how he was cleared the same day as Bryan, but no one cared. He began to rant about how those who are smaller are weaker then him. Cass has obliviously been working on his promo skills and it showed. Backstage, we saw Bryan on the ground, attacked by Cass. Later we learned that at Backlash it will be Cass vs. Bryan. We might have a long wait for Bryan vs. the Miz, which is fine. It a main event match on a big pay per view.
A Glowing Upset
Jimmy Uso faced Rowen as their partners watched from ringside. Before the match, Namoi and Jay talked about her not coming out to ringside. As Jimmy was getting destroyed, Namoi made her entrance with full neon lights. This distracted both Brothers and Jimmy was able to get the pin. While this shows the Usos might have a chance against the Bludgeon Brothers, one must think about the feud between Test and Albert vs. The Dudley Boys. When a woman, Trish, got involved there, she ended up through a table.
Competition
Shelton Benjamin was in the ring looking for a fight. It seemed that Jeff Hardy would engage him again, but he was interrupted by Jeff Hardy. A remix of what happened last week, Orton and Benjamin fought, but both men kept looking at Hardy at ringside. It seemed that Orton had the match won, when a masked figure suddenly attacked Hardy. Orton grabbed him and took off the mask to revile Sunil Singh. This distraction allowed Benjamin to get the win. Hardy and Orton are destined to clash, the question is will Benjamin be joining them?
Match of the Night
AJ Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson vs. Aden English, Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura (English Rusev and Nakamura win by pinfall)
The Club is back together. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson rejoining AJ Styles is the perfect choice. For the match, Shinsuke Nakamura and Styles teased confrontation, but kept tagging in their partners to fight. The person who got the hot tag was Galllows, but a Kinshasa was all that was needed to give the victory to the bad guys. After the match, Nakamura targeted Styles’ friends, making their upcoming match on Friday much more personal.
Conclusion
Carmella and Charlotte signed their rematch contract for Backlash, and Carmella had the table turned over on her. Askua and Becky Lynch couldn’t get past Peyton Royce and Billie Kay. The Bar do not like the New Day or the Book of Booty (available at your local bookstore!). We head around the world for the next big event.
