Welcome to the Smackdown Review for May 15, 2018. For both this and Raw, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show

Talking Points
Hotcakes

The New Day faced the Bar in a tag match where the winner would get to choose a member to go to the Money in the Bank. The Miz joined the commentary table and the match was on. Xavier Woods is just so good. His moves have innovation and he sells everything just the right amount. Big E might be the quickest big men today or possibly ever. Ceasro and Sheamus have tag team moves down to a science. In the end, Woods was able to hit the flying elbow, the one last week that put a hole in his tongue, and get the pin. Who (Who Who WHO) will the New Day choose to go to Money in the Bank.

Straight Fire

Muck like on on Raw, Becky Lynch was against two friends, Mandy Rose and Sonya Devile, for a spot in the Women’s Money in the Bank. Rose and Devile broke down quicker then Alexia Bliss and Mickie James. A two on one beat down turned into Rose trying to pin Deville very quickly. Lynch was not to be denied, and her victory puts her in the match. This was a very good match, no surprise given the talent involved. Lynch could be my pick for the briefcase. Her losing streak might mean a very big victory is in her future.

Mellabration

Carmella promised it would happen and boy did it. From a reading of a proclamation to the appearance of some Beef eaters, The Princess of Staten Island strutted to the ring. After the crowd was not receptive, she proceeded to run down English culture. This brought out England’s own Paige to a huge ovation. Paige informed Carmella that she would be defending her title at Money in the Bank. Her opponent will be Aksua, who danced to the ring and then proceeded to death stare Carmella all the way up the ramp. If Carmella beats Charlotte and Askua, we might be talking about the greatest upsets of all time.

Match of the Night

AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura (Nakamura wins by pinfall)

WHERE WAS THIS MATCH THE LAST FEW ENCOUNTERS?? This was the match I expected from AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura. A great back and forth with numerous pin fall attempts. Styles was explosive and Nakamura broke out moves I have not seen in ages. The ending was perfect as well. Nakamura feigned being hit by a low blow while the referee was distracted. the confusion allowed Nakamura to score the pin fall. Nakamura will now pick the stipulation for their match at MITB. I hope for something extreme and something close to this encounter.

Conclusion

Big Cass  was destroyed by a very pissed off Daniel Bryan. Cien made his debut and made short work of a local jobber. Next week, the last of the qualifying matches as Lana takes on Billie Kay and Big Cass takes on Samoa Joe.
