Welcome to the Smackdown Review for May 29 2018. For both this and Raw, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show

Talking Points
10

It might be easy to dismiss some of the talent that is not featured as regularly anymore. Case in point is Ty Dillinger. He has not wrestled on Smackdown for a long while. That changed when he faced Shinsuke Nakamura in a surprisingly combative bout. The loudest reaction was when he mocked Nakamura’s “come on” gesture. Dillinger might have more to offer then meets the eye. As for the Artist. He kept knocking Dillinger down to count to ten. This part of his gimmick could be used very well if used effectively.

Dance Off

I love a good dance off. The first one I remember in the WWE was a house show that featured Natalya vs Nikki Bella. This one was Naomi vs Lana. Given their backgrounds, it was not surprising that both were able to do some moves. Naomi was the winner and Lana shook her hand. Then all hell broke lose. The move that Lana used to throw Naomi to the ground was impressive. The Usos and Aden English and Rusev got involved. Sometimes, you don’t need fantastic promos or five star matches, just a little fun.

Pancake Power

The New Day still have not let the rest of us know who will be in Money in the Bank, but they did face off against the Bar and the Miz. This was one of those few six men tags that worked to everyone’s strength. The sequence that began with Ceasro kicking out of Big E’s move and ended with Big E pinning the Miz was especially impressive. If the Miz is looking for an upgrade, he should team with the Bar more often.

Match of the Night

Daniel Bryan vs Big Cass vs. Samoa Joe (Joe wins by submission)

After one of the best, and there is a very long list, promo by Samoa Joe to start the show, he, Daniel Bryan and Big Cass fought for the last spot in MITB. I have talked about how different styles can mesh well and these three have three distinct styles. Bryan is fast, Cass is strong, and Joe picks the right moments. The ending was great. Most people would have thrown Bryan off his pin attempt of Cass and then pin him, but not Joe. He chocked out Bryan to make a point. There is another monster in MITB.

 Conclusion

Mandy Rose found out why Askua is the challenger for Carmella’s title. Cien dissed Sin Cara. There seems to be some trouble between Charlotte and Becky Lynch. Paige is becoming more confident in her GM role.
