Now that the gaming extravaganza that most would consider the “Christmas” of the gaming world is over, there is much to go through. There’s no doubt that E3 had something for everyone this year and a few surprises still left up their sleeve. All companies came together to give fans a multi-faceted way to take in their presentations which may have some people up in arms and others happy with the change. Here is a list of what was presented and other highlights.

As soon as E3 approached, conferences were broadcasted everywhere with the biggest upcoming releases of 2018, 2019 and in a case or two, 2020. Here are some of the huge announcements below:

– Kingdom Hearts 3

– Fallout 76

– Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

– Destiny 2 Forsaken

– Smash Bros

– Telltale: Stranger Things

– Fortnite launches on the Switch

– The Walking Dead

– Resident Evil 2

There are, of course, many other games that were announced but that is in our other post “E3 The Full List of Releases,” so check that out too.

Among the chaos of excited fans and developers, new experiences were added this year. For example, the presentation for Fallout 76 had an epic party for its fans that included hats, swag, confetti and a walk through of a vault complete with scientists. The only strange part about this, as cool as it was, was the missing component of a playable demo. Most fans didn’t realize this, so fans were torn emotionally. Other things were added too, one of my favorites for sure; the addition of Gamestop and Funko. This doesn’t seem like much at first, but this is the first time these companies have offered their merchandise during E3. As we all wait to see how this affects the mindset of both the      industry and the casual fans, there is no doubt that E3 is still evolving.

With the enormous crowds merged together all rushing to play demos and jump in lines of their favorite games, some things were easier to access than others. Kingdom Hearts 3 was definitely one that was hard to get a hold of. Nonetheless, Kingdom Hearts 3 is looking amazing and only got the fandom excited beyond the norm. With the release of the new Pokemon Let’s Go games, there was no way to get an up-close look at the game and the other Switch releases either. Sometimes the amount of demo availability doesn’t work with the masses, especially when 70,000 people come to attend and play yearly.

This didn’t deter our focus as we went adventuring to tell you all about the biggest games coming up this year. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is probably one of the most popular games that everyone wanted to get their hands on. Not only is game looking sharp, but the overall pacing seems a lot faster than Origins. Hopefully this will round out the series of games as whole. Next to that Tomb Raider, Super Smash Bros, Destiny 2 Forrsaken and Spider-Man all have a gleaming polish to them that will make them noteworthy as the year rolls on. Some smaller things can’t be overshadowed however.

Tournaments were a large part of E3 this year. Between Super Smash Bros, the epic battle between the WWE’s New Day and Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks and Fortnite (that did a fantastic fundraiser), they all were incredible and brought a lot of support from fans. As we watched from the sidelines at the New Day and Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks battle to see their skills in Street Fighter V, the crowds cheered on their favorite team and were relentless on support, or lack thereof, depending on who was winning. The clear winner? This was Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks but, everyone came together to make a very large announcement about how everyone should work together as a team even after the game is over and not hold a grudge after all the smash talk. After this speech, everyone was no doubt touched and more enlightened about the meaning of friendship.

So here is the overall experience of how E3 really went down. There is always some good and bad when things get crowded and that’s ok. The important part is that everyone will get the chance to prepare for the upcoming games of their choice. In further articles too, we will be posting a more in-depth look at some of the games mentioned here.
