Welcome to the WWE Raw Review for June 18 2018. For both this and Smackdown, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show.
Baddest Woman on the Planet
As Alexia Bliss talked and boasted, I just kept looking at the runway. There was no chance that Rhonda Rousey would let the Goddess off easy for her win last night. When Rousey did show up, all hell broke loss. She attacked Bliss, threw Kurt Angle when he tried to step in, then proceeded to attack referees and Angle again. After clearing the ring, she powerbombed Bliss through a table. This earned her a thirty day suspension. This was what Rousey needs to be, the female version of Stone Cold. Less talk, more destruction.
How Many of Us Have Them?
Braun Strowman, Mr Monster in the Bank, talked about when Brock Lesnar shows up, he will cash in. Kevin Owens, looking in a lot of pain, came out to congratulate him. He talked about Strowman needing a friend and that he would help him. All that he wanted was the first shot after Strowman won the belt. Strowman seemed to reject the offer, but this story line has major potential. Owens knows he can’t beat Strowman, so what is his play here? I was riveted and I want to see where this could take both men.
No More Hugs
Bayley and Sasha Banks seemed to be on the same page as they took on the Riott Squad. As the match progressed, cracks began to form. After they lost, tempers flared and when they got backstage punches were thrown. Banks left the arena not before telling Bayley that they were no longer friends. This feud seemed to have disappeared, but it is reviewing up again. The big twist needs to be Bayley becoming the heel in this battle.
Match of the Night
Seth Rollins vs.Dolph Ziggler (Ziggler wins by pin fall to become the new Intercontinental Champion)
All good things have to come to an end. Seth Rollins had brought the type of respect to the Intercontintal Title that it’s value shot up and up. Did Rollins need the title? Not as much as the title needed him. Dolph Ziggler is the perfect person to hold it now. With Drew McIntyre at his side, Ziggler has proven that his talk about being better then the rest of the locker room carries wait. The title is in good hands. As for Rollins? Something tells me he will be hoisting a heavier belt in the near future.
Conclusion
Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt defeated Heath Slater and Rhyno. The B-Team mocked them in a surprising good impersonation of them. The Revival lost to Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley. Reigns and Lashley look to butt heads at Extreme Rules. Jinder Mahl beat Chad Gable, after saying he has found “peace”. Bobby Roode beat Curt Hawkins and Mojo Rawley beat No Way Jose. Baron Corbin and Kevin Owens got the upset victory over Strowman and Finn Balor.
