Welcome to the Smackdown Review for June 19 2018. For both this and Raw, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show

Talking Points
No Chin Returns

I love James Ellsworth. He is a guy who never thought he would be featured in the WWE and dosen’t take his opportunity for granted. Plus, I have not heard a bad word about him. Putting him back with Carmella makes so much sense. Both wrestlers are better with the other. Carmella might think that she is the greatest women alive, but Askua is still not done with her or her boy toy. If Askua wants a match at Extreme Rules, she had better make sure Ellsworth can be taken out of it.

Sanity

The Usos returned after not being featured for awhile. Their welcome back gift was to be sacrificed to the group known as Sanity. The match never got started. The Usos threw about one punch a piece and then were destroyed. This was a bigger statement then having new call ups demolish jobbers. The Usos are one of the best tag teams in this generation and they looked like playthings as they were tossed around the ring. The biggest misstep would be to make Sanity a new version of the Wyatt family. Let them do their own thing and watch they tear the place apart.

Brother Nero?

Shinsuke Nakamura is down with his pursuit of the WWE Cahmpionship. He knows moves on to another piece of gold, one that is held by Jeff Hardy. The big question is who Jeff Hardy is now. Speaking in a strange, but not unfamiliar way, Jeff is back to face paint and white contacts. Could the loss to Nakamura have broken something in him? Hardy and Nakamura’s match from a few weeks ago was good and a program with them could be a hidden gem.

Match of the Night

Gauntlet Match (Rusev wins to become the #1 Contender)

The last hour of Smackdown was all wrestling as Daniel Bryan, Rusev, Big E, Miz and Samoa Joe faced off for the right to challenge AJ Styles. Big E keeps getting better and better and it is tough to argue that he does not deserve a singles push. Bryan is making the most of his second chance, making the idea that he would work a part time schedule laughable. Samoa Joe makes everything he does look like it hurts. The Miz pinning Bryan after Harper and Rowan attacked him saves their feud for later. And Rusev does things that a man his size should not be able to do. It’s his time

 Conclusion

The Bludgeon Brothers beat Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows. Becky Lynch showed Billie Kay why she should not be messed with.
