There are a lot of games to try out at E3, and one can not see them all. I decided that I would try one game I was excited about and one I had no idea about. The first game was the 11th installment of a beloved character who first appeared on the old NES. The latter was a dark and thrilling first person shooter in the depths of space. Both had their good points and both have me excited for the eventually release.
Mega Man 11
The Mega Man games, created by Capcom, were one series where I stopped playing not because I was bored, but because they just kept coming. There has been quite a long gap between Mega Man 10 and 11 so this game is a refreshing jump back into the adventures of Dr. Light’s best creation. The story line is the same. Someone (Dr Wiley?) has made some evil robots and it’s up to Mega Man to turn them to scrape.
The game looks amazing. The old pixel style has been replaced with clear and bright characters. Even the backgrounds look like they came out of a Pixar cartoon. The old controls are there as well, along side some new developments like a Blaster that you can overcharge to take down enemies. Rush has returned as well, springing you to high places. The enemies are a mixture of old favorites and some new surprises, like a mid stage boss. Did I fight the robot master at the end? No because I was destroyed by a puzzle sequence that brought back unfavorable memories of Quick Man and his fall of doom.
Will I buy this when it comes out. Yes because Mega Man is the series that you can not play for a few years then jump right back. The price I was told is cheaper then most games. The chance to battle the robots, get their powers is an attraction that like the 30 year old series never gets old.
Destiny 2: Forsaken DLC
I will admit right now that I know little about the Destiny series brought to us by Bungie. As I was standing in line, I watched a video about the developers talk about the new worlds and new weapons that were coming in the game. What I noticed was that everyone in the video seemed really passionate about this project. We did not get to experience the new worlds. Instead we were put into a new mode called Gambit.
Gambit puts two teams of four players against each other. This is not your typical match, as the teams are on different maps. Your goal is to kill enemies and bank the credits. Bank enough and you fight a Prime Evil. When you defeat him, your team wins. The problem is that as you are banking credits, the other team is doing the same. Enough credits and the other team can summon monsters to block the bank. Things get really hectic when one member of the other team starts to be able to cross over and start attacking your team.
My team got demolished. The four other players we found out have played the game four other time. The loss did not matter. This game mode was ridiculous fun and is something new to team battle. Fighting against other players, but not directly amps up the gameplay. I will be getting the DLC and playing this mode a lot.
