There is no doubt that conventions are fun and a bit wild. One of the biggest conventions that gets everyone a buzz is the San Diego Comic con. Known to be “the” convention of the west, they feature cosplayers, actors, exhibits, film festivals and much much more. One of the most sought after things that has put SDCC over the top as well is their partnership with Funko. Exclusive Funko Pops! are a huge deal every year when the doors open.

Funko Pop!s have a long history stemming from their small beginnings in 1998 as a company that makes nostalgia themed toys and iconically, bobbleheads. Their first line called Wacky Wobblers brought us the companies first toy of the ad icon Big Boy. No one knew how far the company would reach through time. Now we have Pop! Vinyls that are representations of licensed characters of various companies such as WWE, Star Wars and Marvel. Their spirit lives on through their work and generations old and young still love every bit. With crowds flocking to see everything at SDCC, approximately 130,000 people in 2017 alone, Funko has to be ready with their exclusive Pop!s. This year, Funko has released information about the specific exclusives they will have so fans can get ready. Exclusives can be very difficult to get at large events such as these but fans will go out of their way to make sure they get in first.

This year Funko will have well over 30 exclusives being released both at the convention and in partner stores. Lists are being released about one to two times a week on various social media outlets. So if you can’t go straight to the convention, there will still be a chance to get some of the releases this year. Most of these Pop! Vinyls are limited edition or exclusive. Limited edition Pop! Figures are limited from 5000 pieces all the way down to 1000. If you are lucky enough to get there first then you have seriously won the jackpot. For example, the Cheerleader Deadpool in his pink uniform will only be available this year at SDCC. He is limited to 1000 pieces, after that he’s gone. Unless of course someone is feeling generous and wants to turn around and sell him of course.

Exclusives however tend to be a little easier to get even if you can’t go to    Southern California. Batman 8-bit deco design #01 will be available but it is unclear if all of these exclusives will hit stores. Hellboy in suit #18 will be available as well as Dragon Ball Z, Justice League and Guardians of the Galaxy. There’s basically something for everyone, but we all have to be patient as the convention draws closer.

When July 17-22 hits the convention will be open so keep an eye out from Twitter and the official Funko accounts to see more releases that will be mentioned. Most big announcements may not even happen until the day before because everyone likes a good surprise. As always to, be on the lookout for Funko’s mascot, Freddy Funko. He shows up in different outfits and categories as well.
