For any Five Nights at Freddy’s fans, Scott Cawthon dropped a new custom edition of the game for people that can’t (or won’t) be defeated. Ultimate Custom Night came out June 27th, 2018 and has been shaking everyone up ever since. Not only was this game created to be impossible, but the strategies people are using to try and beat the hardest mode is down right interesting. This leaves everyone wondering however if there is a connection to the other games in the series and if any of the stories are linked.
In Ultimate Custom Night, there are 50 characters for the player to choose from. In this release however, point and click is the main way to play and that makes everything extremely difficult. Each character has a level starting from 0 and going to 20 and players can choose the levels of the characters but must be prepared to use every technique they have ever learned from the series. Players must watch ventilation systems, animatronics, doors and more like purchasing items to appease certain animatronics, or else.
What makes Ultimate Custom Night so difficult are these same difficulty levels. When put on the hardest mode of 50/20, players must defeat every animatronic in order to win. With 50 characters coming at once, the task isn’t easy and you’re likely to die very quickly and very often. Scott Cawthon put in a lot of surprises too that are being found. In some levels, a doll will add in a bonus character to your night and some aren’t even on the list of playable characters. That means trying to find out how to defeat them among the chaos feels impossible. Watching people try to plan out how to win however can be quite entertaining.
Some folks have approached the method of going through a single level at a time with only one character to learn their needs first. Others have tried the same method with sets of characters they know well. In some extreme cases, people have just kicked all of the levels up and jumped head first in the horror (spoiler, they die fast). Of all of these strategies, reading the blurbs near each character seems the best way to start before moving on. Since all of the characters are exactly how we know them, there isn’t much change except learning what makes them go away, but harder since there are 50 of them.
Everything moves so fast in Ultimate Custom Night so getting through one night can be exhausting. Your eyeballs must be pinging everywhere and your memory must be sharp. There haven’t been many complaints of bug issues and the voice acting is funny and creepy. So there is a lot to explore in this game but it will take a while to dig out all of the extras. When you do however it will be worth it, and confusing.
Overall, for the fans of the series, Ultimate Custom Night is completely worth getting in to. The game is very challenging but fans can choose any strategy they want to play and choose any character they like as well. As a bonus, Ultimate Custom Night was release for free too!
