Much like tycoon games, Jurassic World Evolution is here to entertain the dino fans with a business management game. Frontier Developments announced the game release back in August of 2017 and now with the release of the new movie Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, it was no surprise that a game is exactly what we needed to keep the adventure going. So what if you could control your very own park? That’s exactly what Jurassic Evolution gives viewers and players alike.
Upon getting in to the game at E3, the premise is pretty straightforward; create dinosaurs, draw a crowd and build your park for safety and entertainment. Just like the first movie, it’s all about the money and management. The safety part is a big deal, more so than people realize in the beginning. Resource centers are a big part of the game as well. Power is needed so a facility is set for that, the Expedition center gathers DNA from dig sites and the Hammond Research Center to breed and create dinosaurs. All of these things will play a crucial role in your park.
Now that DNA can be altered, players can mix DNA and create different dinosaurs and play with anything from color to aggressiveness. Once creations have been let out in to the park, managing a feeding routine will be crucial as well as gaining enough money from shops, photos, and entertainment in order to keep creating more dinosaurs until you can expand your island. Another feature is the terrain tool so that you can physically alter the island as well and premier all of the new creatures to your audience.
When I got in to to play the game myself, I was a little shocked at the quality of the game. For example, the frame rate was not as nice as I thought it should have been and a lot of detail was left out. The camera as well had some issues since it was all over the place and being able to narrow in on my dinosaurs was a trying task. Being able to switch vehicles seemed simple at first but also provide challenging. These all just things that could be improved and maybe Frontier Developments took this in to consideration when they released the new Fallen Kingdom Dinosaurs DLC, but only time will tell.
