For Funko collectors, there are a couple of options for how to track items in your collection. The first being Stashpedia and the other being The Pop Price Guide. Most would say these two applications are pretty much the same but when it comes to getting a value on your collection, or single collectibles, they can often have different information. Information like this can be useful for collectors looking to sell and buy, especially in a market that is ever growing.
Stashpedia can be accessed on mobile phones with their application as well as online. The only thing needed is a username and password to get started and the service is free. What Stashpedia does is allows users to scan their Pops (and other collectibles such as Dorbz) and get a trending value as well as an overall value of their total collection. Along with this, users can see information from the most recent month and further about the value of sales on individual items and the overall trend in price of an item.
This all seems a bit confusing at first but Stashpedia is a useful tool for collectors and people that are also looking to sell part of their collection for a special item they have in mind. Luckily the trending value that Stashpedia app gives is just a baseline of what the item has recently been selling for within the most recent 7 days. So, when it comes to seeing an item that you want, this value becomes very important. Unfortunately, other trackers such as Pop Price Guide offer similar information but can still be drastically different.
The Pop Price Guide is also a tool that helps collectors track the trending value of Pops. The biggest difference is the algorithm. Although we don’t know how it works, we do know that the concept is pretty much the same. Only the most recent activity of a Pop is calculated and prices are different compared to Stashpedia. The PPG also has a marketplace on their website and mobile app which helps to create a quick list of items collectors want to sell. As a bonus, the PPG allows users to share the link to their available items, so others can decide if they want to buy. Even with all this handy information, collectors should always be aware that items that are bought at retails prices will not always sell at trending value.
As a collector, I encourage everyone to get these apps and compare the two. Especially for new collectors these tools can be helpful in keeping track of everything they have or get a wish list going too. For the sellers, both apps can be helpful in tracking what people want. So, take time getting to know these tools and have fun!
Pop Pick of the Week: Scrooge McDuck (Target)
Only the biggest and best will do for the richest duck in Duckberg. This pop shows Scrooge happy as can be as he swims in his money. At ten inches, this is probably bigger then you think and way bigger then your average Pop. This deserves it’s own special spot in your collection. If you want one, ask at the electronics counter at Target.
