With the upcoming movie releasing, a game seemed to be the next best logical step. Hotel Transylvania 3: Monsters Overboard, created by Outright Games, puts players in to the movie with the main characters and shuffles them around for a fun adventure. No matter what side of the argument you take, the game can still be fun, even if the presence of the game isn’t really necessary with the movie being available.

Players control Dracula, Mavis and their friends in a Pikmin styled adventure. The crew has washed up on the legendary Lost Islands after their ship has been hit by a large storm during their cruise. The Drac-Pack has been split up and now it is up to the player to reunite the gang before time runs out.

While playing, characters will be in control of a group called the Impa. The Impa are a small group of characters that can be a Wolfimpa or Frankenimpa and can be combined to improve their strategy. These little guys will help fight enemies and help to collect treasure throughout the game. Near the bottom of the screen is the active Impas you have to work with when fighting and their icons will change depending on the battle. Using the Impas is as simple as a point and click.

During the exploration of the Lost Island, the Impas will follow along to find new treasures and achievements depending on your platform. The island itself is fun to look at and roam around and the game can be funny at times too. Hotel Transylvania 3: Monsters Overboard is definitely a game for kids. Interestingly enough too, this game is good for someone to use in order to relax and just keep up their skills.

Overall, I recommend the game for kids. This isn’t a hard game and it is much like Pikmin. Since the game is releasing with the movie, there is little left to the imagination in terms of new content or extras and this is hard to get past.
