When it comes to building a collection of fun finds, there are many places that collectors can go to find the specific Pop! They want. Most of the time, retail stores will carry new releases and an onslaught of different Funko Pop! genres to choose from. Other options include the all mighty internet and online stores and shops too for more specific items but what if you simply like the thrill of the hunt? No matter what you’re looking for, whether it be an item for your collection or maybe more of an item for the kids, there are other options.
Since the craze has taken off to get ahold of the Funko Pop! line, more and more stores are popping up to provide people with what they want such as limited series vinyls, con exclusives as well as a jumble of more mainstream items. This is amazing since most of us can’t drop everything to travel around to conventions and other special events where exclusive releases will be such as San Diego Comic Con.
The benefit to these little brick and mortar stores is the availability of rarer items. They won’t always have everything people are looking for but they will have a variety of items that may not be mainstream anymore. If you get lucky, they may have chases, exclusives, and vaulted pieces! So while going around, look for places such as comic stores, pop culture stores and any other little place that may have pop culture styled items. Everyone will have something different and possibly good prices as well.
One of the more rare places to hunt for those frisky Funkos, which blew us away, are antique malls. The name alone doesn’t seem to fit as a place to find what you want, but hidden treasures are starting to pop up all over. Sellers use the antique cabinets and facilities to provide a small selection to shoppers while being able to show off a variety of collectibles. Usually these items will be first come first serve and once they are gone there are no more. Luckily, places like this restock frequently. Don’t be afraid either to look everywhere for what you want.
Even smaller place such as thrift stores and yard sales may have what you want. As collections grow for people, they need to make room for various reasons. So the more you look around at the little places, the more you’ll start to find. The best part is not knowing what may be there!
Pop Pick of the Week: Ghus in Pajamas (Hot Topic)
While I could have given this spot to any of the Pops! from the SDCC exclusive releases, I have to go with this little guy. He might look an egg, but he is a seal. From the Saga comic book, Ghus is unique and also flocked. Hot topic is where to find this little cutie.
