We Are Fuzzy developed an interesting game that released at the end of July. The premise is fighting the monsters we all hear about as children when we go to bed. Sleep Tight is is a fun action filled tower defense strategy game that everyone can enjoy.
Sleep Tight has twelve characters to choose from with different weapons. Set up as a top-down shooter, players get to help set up forts during the day so they can protect their room at night. When the sun goes down, waves of monsters will start to descend and the only person that can save you is you.
Since the game is centered around kids defending their room at night, the art style really reflects this plot. Characters have dart guns, brightly colored clothes and outfits that are out of this world. Even though the game is for families, there is something nice about seeing characters that are true to how they would be in real life. The style is very reminiscent of the show Code Name Kids Next Door and the movie Toy Story.
Children are often afraid of the dark or afraid of monsters under their bed. The developers did a fun job at creating a game that allows players to strategize and build while killing the bad guys. The monsters are mostly toy-looking creatures with no gore but fighting with all of your might in this fast paced game is somewhat relaxing. Even for young players, Sleep Tight could be somewhat therapeutic for their mind and instill empowerment when facing the dark.
As the levels go on however, they will get harder. One of the best things about the game is that the game is enjoyably challenging but will take a long time to master. So automatically this arcade style indie game scores some points. People need to feel challenged but not too much in order to enjoy a game for a long period of time.
Sleep Tight is an interesting take on tower defense and the old top down arcade style shooter. You can spend hours trying to beat your best score and move up in the rankings. A lot of love and care was put into this game, so grab a couch and a water gun and see how long you can last.
