Welcome to the WWE Raw Review for august 6, 2018. For both this and Smackdown, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show.

Cheers

The plan for fans to get behind Roman Reigns was very simple. The first step was making Brock Lesnar look like the biggest scumbag in the world. The second is putting Reigns against people who the Universe hates. Baron Corbin is that person, a slimy corporate sell out who speaks for the best heel of all time, Stephanie McMahon. Reigns and Corbin were given twenty minutes and Corbin looked like a weasel through the whole thing. Finn Balor put the cherry on the cake and Reigns was heavily cheered. Keep this train rolling.

Magic

The B-Team and the Revival squared off after the later’s victory last week. Things looked to be fairly even until the lights went off. When the came back on, Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy had replaced one men from each team of the ring apron. They then attacked causing a DQ. This is what has been missing, supernatural elements that are just crazy. Keep the audience guessing. The Deleters of Worlds need more of this to keep the insanity and fun high.

The Interview

My God. Paul Heyman gave what I consider to be the promo of his career (which is full of them). Eyes red, tears coming out of his eyes, distracted and looking as if he had not showered or shaved for the past week, Heyman told Renee Young that he does not know what is happening with Lesnar. He has been cut out. He said that this Lesnar is the most dangerous he has ever seen. Just a masterclass in how to do a segment. If you want to learn how to give a promo, watch this video.

Match of the Night

Rhonda Rousey vs. Alicia Fox (Rousey wins by submission)

Was there any chance it could be any other match. Match is a relative term because it was right until Rhonda Rousey was flung into the corner. When she looked up, there might as well have been an announcement made.  “Ladies and Gentleman, the match is now over and the execution will now begin”. Rousey flung Fox around and got the arm bar for the win. Alexa Bliss better come up with a new bag of tricks if she has any thought to keeping her championship.

Conclusion

Bobby Roode stopped Mojo Rawley’s winning streak. Elias and Bobby Lashley continued their battle. Rezar beat Titus O’Neil. Jinder Mahl beat Braun Strowman by DQ. Seth Rollins fell to Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler. The Riott Squad got one over on Bayley and Sasha Banks with help from a returning Ruby Riott.
