Back in January of 2018, Funko had released information about releasing one Funko a week for eight weeks called Funko Fridays. As usual, fans went wild over the exclusives the could try to get their hands on. The only catch were the riddles that accompanied each vinyl for that week. Riddles gave clues and a hint if you will, about what fans could expect the collectible to be. Some made sense while others didn’t. The trend however is still going on in patchy succession.

Target was one of the biggest retail stores to get the Funko Friday news. All of the eight week riddles were specifically for Target exclusive items. Depending on the desire for collecting in each city, most vinyls ran out extremely fast. Now that the store holds high interest Funko items at their register, the store becomes very crowded as people try to get ahold of what they want. This isn’t the worst thing if you like networking, but emotions can run rampant. Best case, the energy is high and you might learn of other vinyls you’ve never heard about. Target isn’t the only place to get involved in Funko Fridays however.

Conventions have had a longer history with exclusive releases as well. Most times however, tickets are sold and quantities are very limited. This depends on what the exclusive is of course, but some companies and fans alike get very frustrated and choose to wait for someone to sell their prized possessions online. Since people go out of their way to go to SDCC and other popular events, we can see why waiting may be a better choice.

In the future however, the crowds are split on the opinions that more retail stores should carry on with Funko Fridays. Places like Walmart don’t have a large section of vinyls or don’t get a lot of exclusives, while places like Target have started creating larger displays for their patrons. When everything is said and done, we all just want a chance to collect the vinyls that we’ve been seeking for so long.

Pop Pick of the Week: Pennywise Funko’s (Hot Topic)

This is a Pop! that also doubles as a tasty treat. While Pennywise the Dancing clown might never have be given serious consideration as a kid’s cereal mascot, Funko has brought IT to the breakfast table. The cereal tastes pretty good, and don’t forget the excursive mini pop inside.
