Everyone has something they like to collect. A lot of people have caught on to the Funko Vinyl Pop! Craze and go through great lengths to either collect for nostalgia, while others collect for estimated value. The value people put on things is all relative but in the end, the people that have these collections feel they have a good thing and are happy, because that’s what matters. Below are three selected vinyls to showcase how variable the values can be depending on the collection and the desire for them.
SDCC 2016 Hatbox Ghost Blue with Glitter Number 165
For a Disney fan the Haunted Mansion should be one of the first collections to seek out. Why? Because of the iconic ghosts of course and the story that goes with the Haunted Mansion. Plus, the ride is great too! When it comes to the Disney collection, there are quite a few valuable vinyls but this ghost in particular is not only hard to find, but he is an exclusive. The Hatbox Ghost was released at SDCC 2016, glows in the dark, and is blue with glitter. Now that the time has passed, his value is estimated between $400 and $750 depending on where you look. Since there were only 1,000 of these little guys created, the world is the seller’s market.
D23 Metallic Three Pack Nightmare Before Christmas
Also in the Disney category, mostly due to the high demand, The Nightmare Before Christmas has some of its own iconic characters with large values too. With upcoming 2018 releases that feature a lot of sub characters in the movie such as the werewolf, the excitement is back to get the full collection. What a lot of people don’t tend to watch for unless they specifically want Disney items, is the company releases exclusive items at their D23 Expo. Specifically, the three pack of metallic Jack, Sally and Oogie Boogie that was released in a batch of 500 is high on the list of things to grab. Depending on the depth of your pockets of course, this limited release three-pack will set you back anywhere from $1000 to $1500.
Stan Lee gold and silver metallic set #03
The iconic Stan Lee is no longer doing any signings, at least as far as we know from the grapevine. Values placed on the vinyl figures of him are definitely shifting at the moment but some of his exclusive Pop!s are getting outstanding and somewhat unbelievable values. At some point, Stan Lee himself may be one of the only people that might be able to afford the set we found. Stan Lee released two figures, one gold and one silver, both metallic. These are part of the Stan Lee Exclusive Collectibles release from the LA Comic Con that happened in 2015. There were only 10 produced! So far most places don’t have a trending value (because no one wants to sell them) but there was one outstanding listing from Ebay that was found. For two signed Stan Lee vinyls signed by the man himself and with authenticity certificates, (a drum roll is in order here) the set is being auctioned for $60,000! Both even have factory defects which increase the value. At first this seemed like nonsense but there are 400 people following the auction. So now we wonder, will someone get serious and actually by this set?
Pop Pick of the Week: White Tigerzord (Hot Topic)
With the 25th anniversary of Might Morphing Power Rangers (has it really been that long?) celebrate in style with this supersized pop of one of their mechs. While the action of the show was the fighting, everything got better, and bigger, when the boys and girls of Angel Grove got into their huge fighting robots. This will make a perfect addition to the other Mighty Morphing Power Rangers Pops! already released.
