Welcome to the Smackdown Review for September 4, 2018. For both this and Raw, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show
Talking Points
Heated Words
Becky Lynch and Charlotte were interviewed ahead of their match at Hell in the Cell. Charlotte was good, but she was eviscerated by Lynch in the promo department. Lynch has become a sort of new Stone Cold, just wanting to get what she wants. This new side of her is interesting, but she is not quite a heel yet. To do so she would have to cheat and play down to the audience. This might not be the plan, as an anti hero is something we have not seen in the women’s division.
All for You Wendy
Samoa Joe was in the building, not at the home of AJ Styles. he said that his words were his proof that he is keeping his promise to Wendy to give her a husband that stays home. Styles then made an appearance and the brawl that occurred makes me think that some sort of extreme stipulation is in the works for their match at HIAC. Joe has been killing it lately, a man who believes that he must break the head of a family in order to save it.
Fabulous Truth
It was just one joke. R-Truth thinking he had to fight Carmella in order to get a title shot. The story line that has followed has shown Truth trying to get a match with the Princess and hitting some great one liners. The story has now taken a twist as Carmella joined up with Truth to face the Miz (after Truth thought Maryse was Carmella). This story line is gold and since they are teaming up in the Mixed Match Challenge, I hope this paring goes on for a long time.
Match of the Night
The Usos vs Sainity vs. Rusev Day (Rusev Day wins by pin fall)
The Triple Threat Match last week was good, but this one cranked up the volume. It helped that the three teams are some of the best in the business right now. Rusev and Aden English, accompanied by Lana) are hotter then they have ever been and hopefully the time has come to pull the trigger with these three. The crowd wants it and all three deserve it
Conclusion
Andrade Cien Almas could not beat Daniel Bryan. Peyton Royce fell to Naomi and Askua returned when Billie Kay attacked after the match.
