Originally Spider-Man was set to be released in 2017 but was pushed instead to this year and revealed at the E3 convention instead. Lines were massive to get to the demo that Insomniac Games worked so hard to put out for all of the fans. Unlike what we know about the friendly Spider-Man, this game takes a different approach by trying a new plot line instead.
We all know the origins of Peter Parker and how he came to be Spider-Man, but what if instead, Peter is put into an in-depth situation where not only his family was on the line but he is also forced to protect the wrong? Set in this reality, Peter takes down The Kingpin and and later has to protect The Kingpin’s territory against the Inner Demons. Not only in an already bad spot, but Peter must also protect his Aunt May at F.E.A.S.T where Mister Negative and the Inner Demons are in control.
After giving the demo a whirl, the first reaction landed completely on how nice the game looks. This is the game that people are claiming they will buy the PS4 console for. Not only is the game peaking interest with the characters, but it’s possible there might be a hint of possibility of the Sinister Six showing up. Although not an official thing, we can be hopeful right? Aside from the gang showing up, the cut scenes run so smoothly with the gameplay that it was hard to determine when playing actually stopped.
In some ways the movement and feel of the game is reminiscent of the Batman Arkham Asylum Trilogy. Spider-Man swings and bounds seamlessly across buildings and through the chaos with little noted prompts (which is very exciting) but also has added parkour abilities. So not only can you do all of the normal Spidey things, you can take full control of walking up the side of a building too at a moment’s notice.
Even though the game looks great, there are also a lot of things to look forward to during gameplay. For example, there will be times where crafting is needed, quick time events will be used and the environment will be used as well during a fight. Not only did the developers throw all of this in but they also gave fans the ability to play as Mary Jane and Peter Parker for a few small moments during the plot as well. For anyone wanting to explore the dual ego side of things, this is right up your alley. So far, Spider-Man is shaping up to be, well, pretty amazing.
