Welcome to the Smackdown Review for September 11, 2018. For both this and Raw, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show

Talking Points
What Makes a Man

AJ Styles sat in the empty arena and talked about his upcoming match with Samoa Joe. He said that Joe only wanted him to lose his temper and that is why he is targeting his family. Styles mentioned that Joe has a family, but that he would never attack them. Styles promised that this rivalry would be settled at Hell in the Cell and his emotions were not a weakness, but a strengh. The crowd was into this segment, and every one was dead silent as he spoke

A Fan Attacks

Charlotte had a very good match against Sonya Deville, a warm up to her match against Becky Lynch this Sunday. Charlotte picked up the victory and was shaking hands when a fan suddenly slapped her. The fan pulled off a black wig and was reveled to be Lynch. Lynch put her former best friend in the Dis-Arm-Her until forced to let her go. If Lynch wins, it will be interesting to see where her character goes now that she has the one thing she has sacrificed everything for.

Story Time

Samoa Joe had his own message for Styles. Sitting in a dark room, Joe opened a storybook and proceeded to tell the story of “Goodnight AJ”. As Joe rhymed the entire history was played out with a filter that made it look like drawings from the story. This was one of those promos that started out funny, but quickly became much more disturbing as it went on. It ended with a picture of Joe with the belt next to a smiling Wendy. Great stuff. The thought occurred to me that Joe is acting quite a lot like Mr. Sandman from Punch-Out. Compare how both say “Night Night”.

Match of the Night

The Bar vs. Rusev Day (Rusev Day wins by pin fall)

Rusev Day has finally come again and the three will now be facing the New Day at HIAC. There is a story being told here by Rusev and Aden English and I’m not sure where it will go. Will English turn on Rusev for his betrayal earlier this year? Will Rusev think he does not need anyone after he gets gold? More hints will be reveled at HIAC and that match should be great.

 Conclusion

Andrade Cien Almas cheated to beat R-Truth. Hardy was attacked by Randy Orton after his match with Shinsuke Nakamura. Askua and Naomi are now best friends. Brie beat Maryse.
