Welcome to the WWE Raw Review for September 17, 2018. For both this and Smackdown, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show.
The Seeds of Doubt
While two of the members of The Shield hold gold, Dean Ambrose does not. This was pointed out as Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre tried to split him from the group. Seth Rollins decided that what was good for the goose is good for the gander, telling McIntyre that Ziggler might be using him as well. While many of us expected Ambrose to turn on Rollins when he returned, could we have been wrong about the timing?
Conner’s Cure
Stephanie McMahon, Triple H and the entire locker room turned out to honor kids who are fighting cancer. We all now that cancer sucks, and it is nice for a company as big as the WWE to do what they can in the fight. They then brought out two young kids who help raise awareness of the disease, Carter & Elizabeth. They got a standing ovation and two championship belts. Welcome Home
Elias and Kevin Owen were in a good mood as they talked on the set of the Kevin Owens Show. Their guest was Lio Rush, but the Man of the Hour was too smart to come to the ring alone. He introduced Denver’s own Bobby Lashley to a loud pop. The match against Elias was very good and the crowd was up for all of it. A DQ got the hometown hero the win, but the two heels decided to attack Rush. If you want to know what makes Rush so good in the ring, watch the chase that followed.
Match of the Night
The Revival vs. Drew McIntyre & Dolph Ziggler (McIntyre and Ziggler win by pinfall)
The Revival talk about bringing tag team matches back to their glory days. If they have matches like this in big moments, they will get their wish. McIntyre has been seen as something of a unstoppable force since his return, but Dawson and Wilder had him reeling. A great match that a hot crowd was willing to give it the attention and respect it deserves.
Conclusion
The Authors of Pain and Baron Corbin could not put The Shield away. Nia Jax beat Alicia Fox. The Bella Twins and Natalya fell to the Riott Squad. Konner got a surprise win over Chad Gable. Finn Balor beat Jinder Mahl.
