Recently fans received some sad and shocking news about the closing of the Telltale Games studio. With a 14 year run in the gaming industry, the company has produced many games that have pleased fans across the globe. Even with the studio closing however, there are many games to look back on that we can all continue to enjoy.
Telltale is most known for their games that are released episodically. Mostly based on popular television shows, movies and more. Each episode is playable and allows the player to choose the path they will take along the adventure. Specifically, this is what made their games unique compared to other developers.
Now with the closing of the studio, fans are upset to hear that the games that would have been in development such as Stranger Things and The Wolf Among Us Part 2 are no longer happening. The Walking Dead Final Season however are still unclear, but are rumored to still be finished. The Minecraft: Story Mode project for Netflix is likely to still be finished.
With a new way to approach favorite shows and movies, Telltale has always done well with their visuals. In some games such as The Wolf Among Us, the game seemed like it was crafted just like a comic book. Each scene was dramatic and constantly drew the audience in until they were connected to the characters. This same thing goes for the Batman: The Telltale Series release as well. At least in that respect, the story really is based on comics and could truly be appreciated in the format.
Although some people argue that the Telltale games were boring or too much like visual novels, many people love the games because of the emotional attachment and care given to the story. Among all of the games that the studio has developed, there is likely one for every person’s interests, but maybe these people haven’t found the right one yet.
In the end, we are saddened to hear of the closing of the Telltale Games studio closing. Their developments will still be shared with others. We hope that their team will still go on to make great things. Gamers everywhere will be ready for whatever they come up with next. The gaming industry survives by change, but it feels like Telltale still had more stories to tell. There is really nothing more to say then this: To everyone who worked on any game, for the countless hours you spent, for your dedication to get things right, the only words that matter are Thank You.
