Welcome to the WWE Raw Review for October 8, 2018. For both this and Smackdown, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show.
Reunion
There were two big reunions on Monday night. The first was Triple H and Shawn Michaels talking about what happened at Super Show Down. Channeling some anger, the two issued a challenge for Crown Jewel. They would fight Undertaker and Kane as Degeneration X. DX was always a favorite stable of mine, so I hope they bring their A game. The second reunion was Trish Stratus and Lita teaming up at Evolution to fight Alexia Bliss and Mickie James. This change in plans is a surprise, but anything that gets James and Trish in the same ring is ok in my book.
Night of the Turn
Maybe there was something in the air in Chicago, but a few people turned from their usual characters. Bobby Lashley had a match with Kevin Owens and he and Lio Rush beat Owens. After the match, Lashley attacked Owens, injuring his leg. Lashley might now be heel, and Owens might just be babyface. On the women’s side, The Bella Twins both turned on Rhonda Rousey after their match, and laid the champion flat. Rousey will now face Nikki at Evolution for the title.
El Conquistador
Baron Corbin had a international battle royal for the chance to compete in the WWE World Cup at Crown Jewel. Besides himself, the ring was filled with some of the oddest characters ever to grace the ring. The only notable face was the gold body suit of El Conquistador. Once the bell rung, it was apparent that Corbin had booked these guys in order to get a win for himself. After he eliminated everyone except El Conquistador, the masked wrestler showed an impressive set of skills. After three German suplexs and a very familiar slam, El Conquistador eliminated Corbin and won. He pulled off his mask to revel Kurt Angle. Angle joins John Cena as participants in the WWE World Cup.
Match of the Night
Braun Strowman & Dolph Ziggle & Drew McIntyre vs. The Shield (Strowman wins by DQ)
A rematch from Super Show Down, these six men just picked up where they left off on Saturday. There was more cracks in the Dog of War, with Strowman trying to get his team together. Roman Reigns did not look as if he had an jet lag, hitting Strowman with a Samoan Drop and then leaping over the ropes like his cousins. McIntyre was able to get the pin for his team. After the match, Dean Ambrose left Reigns and Seth Rollins in the ring and walked toward the back
Conclusion
The Authors of Pain destroyed Bobby Roode, Chad Gable and The Ascension. Ember Moon beat Nia Jax. Bayley and Finn Balor beat Alicia Fox and Jinder Mahl
