In the chaos that is the everyday video game player’s lives, there comes a time where a break is needed, to watch some TV perhaps. This is where things get interesting because a not so new idea came about. Specifically, what current scary television shows could be made in to a horror game and possibly be good. Three shows immediately came to mind and are presented in the next few paragraphs.

American Horror Story– Survival Horror

Even though American Horror Story has had its ups and downs collectively, the new series Apocalypse, has reignited the love that fans have for the show. If this series specifically were made in to a horror game there would be no shortage of potential creep factor. This season would be the best choice, since there is only one location. Think Resident Evil: Biohazard, but getting out won’t save you.

As a survival horror game, players could go through the setting interacting as needed with other characters in order to do many different things. Since this is focused on the end of the world, supplies would be necessary to grab, allies may become important and a need to defend themselves would be required. The main player focus would be on surviving the end of the world on their own, or surviving to become a chosen one.

Lucifer – RPG

Before everyone starts to chant in a series of inaudible boos, hear me out. Lucifer is not the scariest of shows but has a lot of supernatural moments. For people that believe the devil is real or could be, this show would make a great RPG. Not a standard RPG, but one that a certain company named Saga has become masters at.

Imagine a Yakuza styled RPG where you, Lucifer, can walk the streets, still dress like a boss, party like an animal, and kick some butt. In this world, side quests are both serious and nonsensical and you still have to level up your stats. This has Lucifer written all over it, because he already does all of this anyway. As a bonus in this type of game, Lucifer’s world could shift from the underworld to a modern day city at any time. Bonus points if the game added Lucifer’s ability to show people his real face.

The Purge – Choice Based

Now before this becomes an issue, The Purge was originally a movie first, but now that the premise has become a series, it was only a matter of time before it ended up on a list, this list. A choice based game would create the best atmosphere for The Purge because of the dynamics the show (and movies) possess.

The best fit for the Purge show would have to be a game styled as a choice based game like Detroit Become Human for example. Since the show focuses on different factions and events, players could play as multiple characters either through various chapters, or as one large story. Each character would have a set of choices most likely revolving around who they will help or who they will kill and why. From here, the game could guide which ending would be most appropriate.
