Welcome to the Smackdown Review for October 23, 2018. For both this and Raw, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show

Talking Points
The Third Man

While it has been true that Big Show will sometimes turn for no reason, this last turn makes a lot more sense then the others. The Bar needed a third man in order to match up with the New Day and Big Show fits that role. He does not need some complex reason for why he turned, maybe it was just that the Bar made him an offer. His match, if that is what you would call it, showed that this Big Show is all about dominance. Refusing to pin Kofi Kingston after three choke slams shows that this Show is more dangerous then ever.

Accidental

Sometimes, I just want two babyfaces to face each other without some type of manufactured heat between them. Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles are simply too good to not have a match for the championship. After the latest contact, the storyline took a new direction. It was Bryan who was acting like a heel, almost mocking Styles and the Too Sweet gesture. Could Bryan be a heel? He certainly would be an unexpected one.

Who are You?

While Charlotte and Becky Lynch have hit everything out of the park in regards to their storyline, this was the topper. The story of Charlotte talking to the new recruits at the Performance Center only to be insulted and then attacked by Lynch was something new. As Charlotte was being held back, she screamed out “Who are You?” Not anger, but confusion. This led to Charlotte to have a promo where she looked about a few seconds from crying. Lynch has been getting a lot of credit, but Charlotte was at her best here.

Match of the Night

Rey Mysterio vs. The Miz (Mysterio wins by pin fall)

The guest of Miz Tv, Rey Mysterio reminded everyone that he can do more then just wrestle. Seeming to outwit the Miz at every turn, Mysterio got the Miz into a match. The match itself was fantastic as Mysterio seems like he has not aged a day. The Miz tried everything, but he was too much. Mysterio has a long list of opponents he could have some fantastic matches with.

 Conclusion

Rusev beat Aden English. The women had a brawl ahead of Evolution. Randy Orton beat Jeff Hardy.
