Welcome to the Smackdown Review for November 20, 2018. For both this and Raw, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show
Talking Points
The Black Queen
There was no apologies or remorse from Charlotte. She loved what she did to Rhonda Rousey and she expected to be thanked for it. Even the fine that Paige gave her for assaulting the referees didn’t phase her. This is not a women who has gone bad, this is one who was always bad and tried to be good and didn’t like it. Becky Lynch is a wrestler who felt overlooked, Charlotte took back her spotlight. She fought both of the IIconics as if they were little more then training dummies. Lynch know has the perfect foil to play off of. She claims she is the best, but what happens when she is faced with someone who will go to the same place?
6-1
The New Day and The Bar with the Big Show competed in A Thanksgiving Feast Fight. One of the best parts was the opening when the New Day talked about what they were thankful for, such as turkey and large electronic storage for their games. They also brought up a good point about why their victory on the kickoff show did not count. I thought that this was just a one off, but the constant reminders make me think that something might be in the works. The match itself was fun and silly and a good tension breaker.
The New Daniel Bryan
Daniel Bryan came to the ring looking like he had lost his mind. What followed was one of the most powerful and most shocking promos of all time. Talking to someone, not the crowd, he twisted his return speech about fighting for your dreams into a justification for everything he has done. Dreams were what he had, not the crowd who he believed had left him for AJ Styles. The final touch was when he reveled he had been talking to the Championship belt the entire time. Deeply unsettling and I can’t wait to see where this goes.
Match of the Night
Randy Orton vs. Rey Mysterio ( Orton wins by pinfall)
it had been 12 long years since Mysterio and Orton had squared off. Going back through my memory, I could not pinpoint that one great encounter they had. These two went at each other, their different styles meshing well. Mysterio might be older then in his prime, but he moves like no time at all has passed. This wasn’t that one great match, but you can see it from here.
Conclusion
Sonya Devill and Mandy Rose lost to Naomi and Askua. The Miz tried to get Shane McMahon to team with him, but a loss to some local talent was not impressive.
