With Black Friday behind us and the Holiday season right around the corner, many people have started gift shopping. It’s pretty easy to figure out what to get for mom, dad, and Tiny Tim, but what do you get the cosplayer in your life? Here are some ideas:
Merch
If they are a cosplayer then they are also a fan. Buy them merchandise from their favorite fandoms. This can be something you order online or buy at the next convention you go to. Little things like keychains, Funko Pop figures, or graphic t-shirts are great gifts.
Cosplay Tutorial Books
Cosplaying is hard, especially for those cosplayers that make things from scratch. Good news! There are many cosplay how-to books out there that make the process easier. Perhaps the book will inspire their next project…
Sewing Lessons
Cosplay is a bit of a solitary hobby. Offering to help with a friends cosplay projects or going with them to learn a new skill is a great way to show you care. It will give you both a fun activity to do and a bonding experience.
Gift Cards
Cosplayers need some pretty unique items. Whether it’s a certain shade of body paint or a very specific prop, it can be hard to figure out what they want. Make it easier on yourself and get them a gift card. This can be to one for their favorite craft stores, online retailers, or just cash. While to some this might seem a little impersonal, explaining you want to help them in their hobby will frame it as sweet.
Convention Badges
When budgeting for a convention the most expensive item on my list is the con badge. If you know a friend is going to a con in the coming year, buy it for them! Not only will you save money by buying early but, you can use that saved money to buy yourself a badge and go with your friend.
Whatever you buy, your friend is sure to love it. If they don’t, you can always tell them where you put the gift receipt. Good luck when shopping this holiday season!
