The world of Persona is as diverse and alive as any real world location. Keeping a basic premise (There is more then meets the eye) Atlus has delivered five games that are different from each other. With this level of success, it would be a forgone conclusion that some spin off games would come out. No one was expecting a rhythm game featuring the cast of Persona 4. The game was such a big success that two more games have been created and now the rest of the world can join in the fun. Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight and Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight takes our characters out of the dungeon and on to the dance floor.
The game play follows other rhythm game. Players will have to watch the screen and press the corresponding button or direction as it appears on the screen. During a section of the song called “Fever” another character from the game will appear. One of the coolest touches is that the two characters interact differently depending on their relationship from their main game. The higher score you get, the more money you receive to buy new songs, outfits and new modes.
The animation and soundtrack are fantastic. The music is from their respective games and is remixed. The soundtrack is one of the best parts of the Persona series and these games really let you experience it. You will keep replaying as well, as you try to beat your high score. The most disappointing feature is the one that is not in the game at all. Persona 4: Dancing All Night had a story mode that served as a sequel to the main game. These two do not have a story mode.
Should you get this game? That is a hard question to answer even if you are a fan of the Persona series. The lack of a story mode means you are not missing anything, but the games are fun to play. If you liked the characters more then the fighting, then this game might be for you. Rhythm games are a particular genre, but the addition of Persona actually works very well.
