Welcome to TLC for December 16, 2018. For all WWE pay-per-views, I will go over every match, share the highlights and look ahead to the next show.
WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy vs. Cedric Alexander (Murphy wins by pinfall)
Cedric Alexander finally got his rematch with Buddy Murphy. This was actually better then their match at Super Showdown. The two knew how to get the crowd yelling at ever move they did. It also seems that these two actually hit each other with their moves. Fantastic start
Highlights: THE WHOLE DAMN MATCH!
Grade: 10 out of 10
Elias vs. Bobby Lashley (Ladder Match) (Elias wins by getting the guitar down)
Elias might have be one of the most over wrestler on Raw, but he would have to go to a special place to hang with Bobby Lashley in a ladder match. He did, bringing the toughness and making Lashley look like he was in the control the whole time. Lashly got his revenge after the match, so this feud is probably not over.
Highlights: Elias jumps on Lashley under two ladders.
Lashley slams a ladder on Elias
Lio Rush hits a frog splash on Elias
Grade: 8 out of 10
R-Truth & Carmella vs. Jinder Mahal & Alicia Fox (Finals of MMC Season 2) (R-Truth and Carmella win by submission)
A little comedy after two hard fought matches. Carmella and R-Truth are just so awesome. Alicia Fox and Jinder Mahl grew on me as well, but the shifting storyline hurt them a little bit. This was all about the ladies as they did the heavy lifting. The Fabulous Truth winning was the right call.
Highlights: Carmella has really improved her kicks.
R-Truth does not age at all
R-Truth putting on Fox’s hat and mocking her.
The reveal that R-Truth put WWE Headquarters as their vacation was a lot funnier then it should have been
Grade: 7 out of 10
The Bar vs. The New Day vs. The Usos (SmackDown Tag Team Title Triple Threat Match)(The Bar wins by pinfall)
Three of the best tag teams in the modern era met to determine who would leave with he belts. Woods and Kofi used every high flying treick they had. The Usos hit hard and fast. In the end, it was the Bar who used a moment when the other teams were on the floor to get the win.
Highlights: The Usos have a superkick party
Cesaro swings Kofi about fifteen times.
Woods hits an elbow halfway across the ring
Grade 8 out of 10
Braun Strowman vs. Baron Corbin (Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match) (Strowman wins by pinfall)
Braun Strowman did show up, but his arm was in a cast. He mad mention that a TLC match was actually no disqualification. Every babyface appeared, chair in hand. Heath Slater took off his referee shirt and the beatdown was on.The knocked Corbin around the ring until he retreated. Kurt Angle then appeared to bring him back. After being hit by everything. Strowman pinned him. Fantastic
Highlights: The whole segment
Grade: 10 out of 10
Natalya vs. Ruby Riott (Tables Match) (Natalya wins by putting Ruby through a table)
This story was all about Natalya’s father. The match was great, with the Riott Squad getting taken out early and Natalya and Ruby just going at it. Both women looked strong and the crowd was very loud for the entire match. Natalya winning made everyone feel good.
Highlights: Liv Morgan takes a hell of a bump through a table
Trash talking by Ruby and Riott
Natalya brings a table with Ruby’s picture on it
She also dons her father’s jacket
Natalya stares down at Ruby after putting her through a table
Grade: 9 out of 10
Finn Bálor vs. Drew McIntyre (Balor wins by pinfall)
A
match that looked uncertain a few weeks ago, Balor and McIntyre went
full force at each other. Balor kept trying to knock Mcintyre’s legs out
and McIntyre threw Balor around the ring. It was a Ziggler sneak attack
that allowed Balor to get the pin. A great match.
Highlights: THE WHOLE DAMN MATCH
Grade: 10 out of 10
Rey Mysterio vs. Randy Orton (Chairs Match)(Mysterio wins by pinfall)
Chairs match can be great or terrible depending on the wrestlers involved. Luckily, Orton and Mysterio were willing to both give and recvice the shots. These two will be feeling this match tomorrow. The ending was a bit to sudden, but a pretty decent match all together.
Highlights: Mysterio uses a chair as a boogie board
Orton sent face first into a chair
Mysterio jumps right into a chair shot
Mysterio steps across three chairs to hit a victory roll
Grade 8 out of 10
Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey vs. Nia Jax (Rousey Wins by submission)
Nia Jax and Ronda Rousey picked up right from MITB. Rousey keeps adding to her move set and it is awesome to see her skills develop with each new match. Jax was a force of nature, but not even she could could stop the Baddest Woman on the Planet from making her tap out
Highlights:Rousey throws Jax.
Jax picks up Rousey into a nasty powerbomb.
Rousey sails through the air.
Rousey uses Jax to step up with a knee and then a fist.
Rousey kisses Jax’s fist before the armbar.
Grade: 9 out of 10
WWE Champion Daniel Bryan vs. AJ Styles(Bryan wins by pinfall)
A five star match if ever there was one. Bryan and Styles just tore into each other as the crowd roared. Bryan’s new charcter is cool because he takes his exsisting moves and switches them up. Styles was at 150% here. Watch this match
Highlights: THE WHOLE DAMN MATCH!
Grade: 10 out of 10
Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose(Ambrose wins by pinfall to become the new IC Champion)
Two things were working against this match. The first was that it had to follow the Bryan and Styles classic. The second was that it was slower paced as Ambrose tried to make Rollins lose control. This was not a bad match, just in a bad place on the card. Hopefully the rematch will be better.
Grade 7 out of 10
SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka (Triple Threat TLC Match) (Askua wins to become the new Smackdown Women’s Champion)
The Man. The Queen. The Empress. Watch this match. Lynch may have lost the belt, but an even bigger challenge comes her way. She will need help. About three members should do it.
Highlights: THE WHOLE DAMN MATCH!
Grade 10 out of 10
