Only two days ago on Sunday, the world seemed to come crashing down around all of the dedicated followers of the Super Best Friends Play Youtube channel. Upon waking up, the notification was already waiting to be opened. A link to the Best Friends channel was ready to go with a video and the announcement that the guys were disbanding. In an emotional video, the trio was upfront about what was going on and still very respectful. They were still the “family” we’ve all come to love, even if they were breaking our hearts.
Known as the Zaibatsu, the trio, and sometimes quadruple group have been together making Let’s Plays for fun. Matt, Pat and Woolie was known for playing retro games and every game they could get a hold of really. This group had deep discussions and were often inappropriate. Overall, Super Best Friends were a group of friends that spent time on their couch gaming, like much of the world wishes they could bring back from their childhood. Through this, fans connected to them because they are real people just like us and shared their lives with us too.
We’ve talked about Super Best Friends here at Kwinn Pop before as being one of our favorite gaming channels, which still stands true. They have so many amazing videos to watch, but that won’t change that new content isn’t going to be made. Some of our favorite videos are Bloodborne, Omikron, La Noire and Rustlemania. Each of these brought a new moment that really grabbed our attention and made us laugh. Probably, the most revered however is the Halloween special that was put on every year called the “Shitstorm,” a collection of different scary games everyday in the month of October.
From Bloodborne, we remember the creation of the Yharnam AM, where the guys bantered back and forth and created an imaginary radio station based on the monsters in the game. Most likely extremely tired, we loved every second of this comedy gold. La Noire was a new adventure to Woolie at the time and following the journey of his gameplay and expectations were silly. Following other games like Omikron, the guys have always been brutally honest about what they think of the developers or the layout of a game. We still aren’t really sure if they love or hate Omikron, we just know that their comments leave everyone in stitches.
One of the things that came out after the breakup was artists and other YouTube channels praising them. There seemed to be no one who had a bad thing to say about them. They helped so many just by talking about them or being there for them. If someone can only be judged by the legacy they left behind, Super Best Friends stood taller then all the rest.
Although we are sad to see the guys parting ways, we know that they will move on to doing more things that they love which is a win-win. Fans have drenched the guys with love and support on social media. Some supporters have even decided to watch all three Christmas streams at the same time so that it feels like the guys are all still together. The guys have decided to leave up all of the content for everyone to keep enjoying. If you have the time, go check out their channel and their solo ones. Below are links to each of them as well as their Twitter accounts.
