So, the New Year has begun and let’s say you have to pick up your collection of Funko Pops! and move them, how do you do it? The solution seems pretty simple on the surface, but for the collectors that keep their vinyls in the box, or that have some pieces they value highly, this can be quite the challenge. Here are a few things to think about when needing to pack up your pops and the choices you have in order to get them from one place to the other, safely.

One of the first things that should be done is to count exactly how many pieces you have. This will determine what type of storage containers you will need. Boxes work, but are susceptible to water damage, being dropped and other hazards that may crumple the box and damage the contents inside. Plastic storage is a great way to go to help protect your stuff a bit better, it’s the Tetris-like packing that makes this option difficult.

When the time comes to physically put your collection in storage piece by piece, there are a few ways to wrap each individually in order to get the best result. Here are some options to choose from.

  • Bubble wrap each box individually before stacking them in your container of choice.
  • If you have the original cardboard box the single Funko vinyls come in, this is perfect for protecting your pieces and they stack well.
  • When placing your pops in the storage container, use a single piece of cardboard to put in between rows to keep the windows of the boxes from pushing against each other.
  • If moving unboxed pops, wrap each piece in paper or bubble wrap and put them together in storage.
  • Use Pop protectors for each of your pieces. The hard protectors usually run $7.99 USD but they take the damage while your collection does not.

Packing your collection doesn’t have to be hard, so customize your plan they way you see fit. Use hard protectors for the grail pieces in your collection and also use other methods for the pieces that may not mean as much. Anyway you decide to pack everything away, just make sure that the collection will make it to the next location without being damaged. Moving everything also gives you a chance to go through each piece and either dwindle what you have or gives a great opportunity to pass some pieces on to others as well. Just be careful and have fun.
