Welcome to the Smackdown Review for January 22, 2019 For both this and Raw, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show

Talking Points

Let Them Fight

Becky Lynch strode toward the ring. Her mind was not on the Royal Rumble, but rather the prize of headlining Wrestlemania. She was interrupted by Askua, but both women were surprised when Charlotte came out. This distraction allowed Lynch to attack Askua and a brawl began that continued back stage. Reminding fans that Charlotte is still around is a good strategy if the Queen decides to interrupt the festivities on Sunday.

Fickle

Not even Vince McMahon could get Daniel Bryan to do what he wanted. Aj Styles and Vince were in the ring, but Bryan refused to get in. He went on a rant from everything to baby boomers to his role as the Earth’s Champion. This new Bryan is so far removed from his last character it looks like a new person. He is having a lot of fun and he is easy to hate too.

Joe

Over the past few weeks, Samoa Joe has gone from an afterthought to one of the most dangerous men in the Royal Rumble. There is a new sense of viciousness and a spring in his step. Joe first defeated Mustafa Ali and then attacked both men in the main event. He was laid out by Randy Orton, but momentum is assuredly on his side.

Match of the Night

Rey Mysterio vs. Andrade (2 out of 3 falls) (Rey wins 3-2)

The only thing bad about this match was that how awesome it was would never be a surprise after last week. Andrade and Rey just threw everything they had at each other. These two are getting better and better and who knows where it might take them. Like I said, just let them wrestle forever please.

 Conclusion

Mandy Rose beat Naomi. Cesaro beat The Miz.
