Welcome to the Raw review for January 21 2019. For this and Smackdown, I will go over the talking points and pick the match of the night.
Crossroad
Seth Rollins opened the show, pointing at the Wrestlemania sign. He was soon joined by Triple H, who proceeded to heap praise on his former friend/enemy. Triple H said he had until the end of the show to make his decision. They were soon joined by Dean Ambrose, in a segment that made me think Ambrose vs. Triple H might happen. Rollins would attack Lesnar and make his choice, but he was destroyed by The Beast in the end.
Tag Team
We saw the first two matches in the qualifying rounds for the Women’s Tag Team Titles. Nia Jax and Tamina defeated Alexia Bliss and Mickie James, while Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan defeated Natalya and Dana Brooke. I love that the tag belts are getting this type of buildup. It makes them seem more important each and every week.
Main Event
We were told that Becky Lynch would make her decision on Smackdown, but The Man didn’t wait 24 hours. Hobbling a little, Lynch came to the ring and challenged Rousey. Rousey was booed, this is now The Man country, but it was less of what she said and how she said it. Showing a fury in her face, Rousey might just skip the talking promos and just glare at Lynch. Powerful stuff.
Match of the Night
Ronda Rousey vs. Bayley (Rousey wins by submission)
And with this, Rousey has gone through all but one Four Horsewomen. Bayley is often overlooked, but she gave Rousey one of the best matches of the three. A simple hard hitting match that Bayley looked to have locked up a few times. Bayley was gracious in defeat, something Banks might have a problem with.
Conclusion
Elias attacked Jeff Jarrett and Road Dog. The Revival beat Curtis Hawkins and Zack Ryder. Bobby Lashley attacked Finn Balor. Rollins beat Ambrose. Braun Strowman was attacked by Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin.
