Welcome to the Smackdown Review for February 26, 2019 For both this and Raw, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show
Talking Points
Stolen
It was time for the contract signing for Daniel Bryan and Kofi Kingston. It seemed that it was going to go off without a hitch, until Vince came out. Using the excuse that he wanted to give the fans the best contest, he replaced Kofi in the match with Kevin Owens. Kofi and the New Day were in shock. I am OK with this. If Kofi gets his title match, on a much bigger stage. Sometime in April perhaps?
The Bothers
The Bar was supposed to be in one on one action. Plans changed as Jeff and Matt Hardy came out to fight them. Matt looks in incredible shape and the time off made him move a lot better. If Matt brings his Broken gimmick to the blue brand, and Brother Jeff is along for the ride, this could be something special. One of the best tag teams in the world has joined a very talented roster.
The Crown
With what happened on Monday night with Ronda Rousey, Charlotte came out to a very hostile reception. The Queen has breathed new life into her heel gimmick, becoming conceited as well as a Yes Man instead of The Man. She expects that next week she will be crowned the New Raw Women’s champion because she does what she is told. Just solid work from Charlotte, a real gold standard for heels.
R-Truth vs Andrade vs. Rey Mysterio (R-Truth wins by pinfall)
Never let it be said that R-Truth is not a fighting champion. When his open challenge for the US Tile was answered by two men, he faced them both. Rey and Andrade picked up where they left off with Truth adding some good spots in between. Rey took the pinfall, but was laughing about it. Andrade’s post match attacked signaled this rivalry is not over yet.
Conclusion
Allister Black and Ricochet beat Rusev and Nakamura. Kevin Owens and Kofi beat Bryan and Rowan. Honky Tonk Man is going to the Hall of Fame.
