If you haven’t already heard the epic news, the time is now. Pokemon Sword and Shield from The Pokemon Company and Game Freak is upon us. Finally a new Pokemon game for everyone already completely submerged in the Pokemon catching culture. Although the release date hasn’t been confirmed yet, here is more about the upcoming game and why everyone should be waiting for it.

A new region was announced called Galar which is a first for this new release. Unlike the previous games that were all released on handheld systems such as the GameBoy and the 3DS, this will be released on the Nintendo Switch, which could be argued as a handheld system in a way. So far, 13 Pokemon were highlighted in the announcement, some being from Gen 4 and Gen 8.

Following the standard gameplay, it is safe to assume that we will be seeing gyms on the journey and battling our hearts out. It’s unknown however why this one is called Sword and Shield. Just as speculation, this title may have something to do with the gameplay. Possibly the title hints that players could be offensive or defensive in battle. Maybe there is a way to play a more passive game versus an aggressive one. This is all up in the air though since we don’t know enough to see what is going to happen.

From what we have seen so far, the environments look crisp and there will be multiple landscape changes. With most of the games, Pokemon are hidden in different areas, somehow some of them are hidden in the city too it appears. Maybe some hunting will be required to find them all. With the featured 13 Pokemon, another assumption could be that the evolution of Pokemon will also be in the game. For example, if you have Pikachu then it’s possible we could see Raichu as well.

Right now we will all have to just wait and see what the company has in store for the rest of Pokemon Sword and Shield. Set to release sometime in the fall of 2019, fans of the game should start watching their local stores now in order to hold their copy because more than likely this one is going to go fast.
