Welcome to the Smackdown Review for March 5, 2019 For both this and Raw, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show
Talking Points
Redwood
Kevin Owens is now a babyface, as he taunted Daniel Bryan and Rowan ahead of their match on Sunday. There is no doubt that Owens was a fantastic heel. His move to the hero ranks is very natural, using his sharp wit to attack his opponents. One such line was when he referenced the stunner from last week and then said ” And the bottom line is, wink, wink.” It’s hard to root against this Kevin Owens, he is just so likeable.
Childhood Hero
R-Truth is probably one of the greatest talkers on the microphone. He doesn’t have some sort of catch phrase, just a commitment to what he is saying and his character. Calling John Cena his childhood hero, Truth is older then Cena, or thinking that Lacey Evans is accepting his US Title Open challenge, Truth just commits to what he is doing. The crowd loves him and Carmella seems to really enjoy her time with him. Just a wrestler who you have to watch when he has a microphone in his hand.
Friendly Chat
Charlotte was all smiles and arrogance as she invited Becky Lynch to the ring for a chat. Lynch showed up and did all the talking. Claiming that she was in Charolette’s head as well as Ronda’s, Lynch was attacked by the Queen. Lynch was able to turn it around and put on the Dis-Arm-Her. This is important since the beat down Lynch suffered last night. Lynch had to show that she is ready to go to get back her spot at Wrestlemania. 
R-Truth vs Andrade vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Samoa Joe (Joe wins by pinfall to become the new US Champion)
R-Truth had to fight three other men for his title this week. The numbers game was too much as Joe was able to get a pin on Andrade to become the new champion. Joe deserves this title, a wrestler who always makes whatever he is involved with interesting. There are a number of ways to go from here, but Joe should hold this title for a long while and be the monster he is.
Conclusion
Allister Black and Ricochet beat The Bar. Kevin Owens beat Rowan. Mustafia Ali returned. Mandy Rose beat Naomi, but was attacked by Askua afterwards. The Miz beat Jay Uso.
