Welcome to the Smackdown Review for March 19, 2019 For both this and Raw, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show
Talking Points
Earning It
A much less cocky, but more focused Miz started the show. Apologizing for some of his past sins, Miz talked about how his life was hard and that he had to defy the odds to get where he was. He said that he earned the respect he has and the WWE Universe responded with cheers and chants. He promised that the only thing Shane has coming to him is the beating he will deliver. Miz did not have to change his character at all as a babyface, and it works great.
No More Dodging
Sasha Banks and Bayley mad good on their promise to come to Smackdown. They challenged the IIconics in a non title match. Peyton and Billie have the skills to be wrestlers, and it showed as they hung with the champs for the majority of the match. They won by being just a little smarter. It looks more and more that The Women’s Tag Team Titles will be decided at Wrestlemania in a multi team match.
Fight
Kevin Owens brought back the KO show, and his guests were Becky Lynch and Charlotte. Owens might be a babyface now, but he egged on his guests in typical heel host fashion. Recounting how everything got to the point, with special mention of what happened with Rousey on Monday, Owens got both women to stop talking and start fighting. Both even took out a security guard.
Match of the Night
Kofi vs. Samoa Joe, Randy Orton, The Bar, Rowan and Daniel Bryan (Gauntlet Match) (Bryan wins by pinfall)
You were hoping that Kofi would do it, beat the odds and go to his match at Wrestlemania. The Bar tried to wear him down with technical wrestling. Rowan got disqualified before his match even started. Samoa Joe used blunt force trauma. Orton tried to pick the bones. All failed and Kofi beat them all. Vince then came out and added Bryan to the match. Kofi tried, but had given it his all. The scene of everyone in the locker room cheering Kofi on should give you an idea what is going to happen next week.
Conclusion
Kofi is not dead yet.
