Welcome to the Smackdown Review for April 9, 2019 For both this and Raw, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show
Talking Points
Celebration
The New Day came out to properly celebrate Kofi’s WWE Heavyweight Championship. Woods and Big E talked about how Kofi has inspired them. Kofi thanked them as well as he family who were sitting ringside. The Bar came out to ruin everyone’s good time. Saying that they interrupted the match on Monday so Kofi would not lose it, they challenged the New Day to a match. Their partner was Drew McIntyre. The New Day were able to fend all three men off for the win
The Shakeup is Next Week
Drew McIntyre was not the only Raw person to show up on Smackdown. After Samoa Joe beat down R-Truth, Braun Strowman came to the ring and the two monsters started throwing hands. Lars Sullivan also made an appearance, attacking the Hardy Boys. Since learning that the shakeup is next week, WWE is preparing everyone for the new feuds that could happen.
She Felt That One
Becky Lynch was still all smiles as she came to the blue brand. She showed the attack by Lacey Evans and promised that she would always been willing to fight. Evans waited until her back was turned and then threw A Woman’s Right that floored the Champion. This feud could be fantastic if Evans gets some promo time to show their differences.
Match of the Night
The Hardy Boys vs. The Usos (The Hardy’s win by pinfall to become the new Tag Team Champions)
The Usos are the best modern tag team. The Hardy’s are in the conversation for best tag team of all time. The two had never fought each other until this match. Matt looks in the best shape of his career, the time off allowed him to be quicker and look stronger. The match could have gone either way, a testament to the skill of both teams. The Hardy’s winning means that they will not be split up, and I am curious what the Usos could do with a singles run.
Conclusion
Shane bullies the announcer. Ricochet Black and Ali beat Nakamura, Rusev and Andrade. The IIconics beat some local talent.
