To start, I have never been to a con. I’m dead serious. This was my first one ever and boy was it an awesome experience! Because this was my first con, I decided to make the most of it by attending all three days to see what this con was all about. Below you will find cosplays and more!
Cosplays!
First off, the cosplays were on point this year. The event had the Heroes & Villains with Walker Stalker in the same area which I think pleased most of the attendees. It gave them a chance to see everyone in one spot! There were mixtures of Walking Dead Cosplayers with different heroes/villians from the Marvel and DC universe.
There was an abundance of vendors at this event that featured all things nerdy from Harry Potter to Disney-related souvenirs. In the first picture above, is a group of cosplayers from CosACommotionLive that go to these events to raise money for a worthy cause called Pets for Vets. Pets for Vets provides second chances for shelter dogs to become support animals for Veterans that suffer from PTSD. The fact that there are vendors there raising money for worthy causes is a good reason to support these events.
What most of the attendees love about this event is that they can come cosplay in whatever they want, even if it isn’t being featured. I saw a Reptar on the premises, Michael Myers was terrorizing people in that jumpsuit and mask, even small children were cosplaying in the most adorable costumes.
If cosplayers were starving, there was plenty of food to go around at the snack bar along with a food truck that served walking tacos! Those who needed to wet their whistle? There was a Rip It! table giving them out for thirsty patrons!
Need to charge their phone due to so many meet and greets? T-Mobile was there to have people covered to charge their phone so they didn’t
have to stand next to a wall to charge or go back to their hotel rooms. There was also an area where tattoo enthusiasts could a tattoo to commemorate the trip.
Fan Fest was definitely prepared this year in regards to security, first aid and vendor set up. In previous years I had heard it was less organized but from what I saw, it had more organization then other conventions (non-nerdy related) I had been to.
They get an A in my book for that. This was the place to make new best friends and new memories that people will never forget.
Panels!
The panels were very enjoyable. I had seen panels done for other Cons on YouTube so it was interesting to see what this was like in person.
There was a lot of laughing involved in the panels I attend. The celebrities definitely enjoyed being there and talking to their fans and answering their questions.
Most people have a hard time seperating the artist from the art and assume that the actors are all like the character they play.
I can assure you that Jon Bernthalisn’t as angry like Frank Castle or that Cassady McClincy is as depressing as her character Lydia on The Walking Dead. It is refreshing to see them outside of their roles they play.
It felt like all of the attendees and panelists were good friends already and that kind of togetherness is something to be cherished.
There was no shortage of actors to meet at the event. While I didn’t meet everyone I had talked to and had photo ops some of them. Each celebrity took time to talk to each person that was in line to see them (with the exception of photo ops).
It was well organized but sometimes the actors would run late for their photo ops due to trying to meet and autograph photos at their booths. Other than that, everything seemed to move in a timely fashion.
Conclusion
The event fell on Easter weekend and when I spoke with other attendees they didn’t mince words. They felt that there would have been a bigger better line-up of people for this year with it being a three day event rather than two. It was still enjoyable for me but other fans who have been going every year would like to see improvement for future conventions.
This con is still growing and I hope to see more awesomeness in their events for years to come.
