Welcome to the Raw review for April 29, 2019. For this and Smackdown, I will go over the talking points and pick the match of the night.
Money in the Bank
Alexia Bliss would make two appearances during Raw to announce who from Raw would be in the MITB. On the men’s side, Braun Strowman, Ricochet, Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin. For the women, Natalya, Dana Brooke, Naomi and Alexia Bliss. The favorite for the men so far has to be McIntyre. His strengh and speed make him unstoppable. For the women, the safe choice would be Bliss, but she just won last year.
Character Study
If you want to know how to change a character from a heel to a a bayface without losing the things that made that character interesting, look no further then the Miz. Still being a little cocky, he focus on taking his opponent down with his verbal insults instead of the crowd. He mentions his accomplishments but not in a bragging way. Once Miz is done with Shane, he should be the biggest hero on Monday nights.
The Joy of Painting
Things got even weirder on the second episode of the Firefly Funhouse. Bray was painting and we finally learned who that rabbit in the title sequence was, Rambling Rabbit. Bray’s painting was of the compound burning down. This brought out the witch, who Bray kept referring to as Abbie. The word of the day was sociopath. You think things could not get any weirder, but they did. If you missed it, check it out. Can’t wait for episode three.
Match of the Night
Samoa Joe vs. Rey Mysterio (Mysterio wins by pinfall)
Maybe now we can build back up to the match we were supposed to get at Wrestlemania. Starting with a fire and brimstone promo from Joe, this match was a perfect example on how to build a speed vs strength story. Joe destroyed Rey when he could get his hands on him, and Rey used his speed to stay alive. Here is hoping these two can get to the match we know they can have.
Conclusion
The Viking Raiders beat Lucha House Party. Naomi beat Bliss. Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder beat the Revival. The Usos beat Gallows and Andersen. Bobby Lashley beat Miz. Ricochet and Strowman beat Corbin and McIntyre.
