Welcome to the Smackdown Review for May 28, 2019 For both this and Raw, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show
Talking Points
Who Did It
Kevin Owens scrapped the KO show and decided that he was going to fight Kofi to start off Smackdown. He also claimed that he did not attack Big E from the week before. Kofi called him a liar, but there is reason to be concerned. Owens has been many things, but a liar is not one of them. Since Big E said it was Owens, did he not really see what happened? Or is there something even worse behind the accusation.
Run Truth Run
Shane McMahon was having an appreciation night for himself, flanked by Elias and Drew McIntyre. After the usual posturing, he was interrupted as Truth ran from attackers. Having his moment spoiled, Shane knocked out Truth and allowed Elias to get the 24/7 belt. It’s been a good run for Truth, and it wasn’t over yet. Regins speared Elias after their match and allowed Truth to pin him to regain the title.
Tea with the Queen
Charlotte and Lacey Evans have a lot in common. Both believe that they are the best the women’s division has to offer. Evans took on Bayley as Charlotte watched from ringside. It was a good match, capped off by Bayley smacking Charlotte. As the Queen tried to retaliate, Evans rolled up Bayley but the referee was distracted. Bayley reversed and got the win. Evans then attacked Charlotte who struck back. That didn’t last long.
Match of the Night
Kofi Kingston vs. Kevin Owens (Kofi wins by pinfall)
Owens and Kofi, what needs to be said? These two had a better match then at Money in the Bank, which is saying something. No outside interference, no insane spots. Just Owens and Kofi putting it all out there. It was given room to run which is always a good thing.
