What happens when a demon loses the Anti-Christ? A LOT! Crowley (David Tennant) and Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) have to come together to figure out where the Anti-Christ has been for the last number of years before the Apocalypse. From the brilliant minds’ of Terry Pratchet (Going Postal) and Neil Gaiman (American Gods) comes a hilarious series about the antics of those from heaven and hell.
A young boy is meant to bring the the apocalypse to all the universe. Only issue is, the Anti-Christ has been misplaced.
Crowley had one job to do and somehow three different babies ended up mixed up. While people have been watching the wrong child grow to become Satan’s son, the actual Anti-Christ, Adam, has been living a normal life with a doting family in Tadfield. One of the omens was a hell hound being released to the son of the devil. It appears as a scary beast at first until Adam talks about what kind of dog he wants, which is a small terrier. It then changes itself to fit what Adam wants.
This story seems to believe in nature vs nurture. While he may be the Anti-Christ, the way he was raised was perfectly normal. He has two parents who love him, great group of friends and now an adorable puppy that he can play with. It isn’t until he meets an Occult that changes the way he views things, which warps the reality and brings on strange times indeed.
The series follows the history of Aziraphale and Crowley through 6,000 years of bickering, helping each other out of sticky situations and all around tom-foolery. No one else knows that Crowley or the nuns made a mistake when delivering the Anti-Christ, but it is up to the angel and demon to figure out how to fix this quagmire.
I have ready many Neil Gaiman novels and Good Omens collaboration with Terry Pratchett is the best one. The series paints a great picture of what I expected from the book and recommend watching more than once.
